Matt Godwin is a senior associate within FMI’s Investment Banking practice. Matt works
primarily with domestic and international design, engineering, and construction firms and is responsible for providing a broad range of services — including merger and acquisition advisory, valuation, and ownership transfer advisory. Matt has participated in numerous engineering and construction transactions during his tenure at FMI, including representing both buyers and sellers.
Prior to joining FMI, Matt was an investment banking analyst with Wachovia Securities, Inc. (formerly First Union Securities, Inc.), based in Charlotte, NC. In this role, he focused on mergers and acquisitions, equity offerings, and debt placement within the defense and aerospace market. Prior to Wachovia Securities, Matt worked for Arthur Andersen LLP in Atlanta, GA as a senior auditor in the firm’s Assurance and Business Advisory Practice. In this role, Matt developed and executed detailed audit plans, analyzed client financial statements, and audited and adjusted financial statements for SEC filings, among other responsibilities.
Matt earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting and a masters of accounting, both from North Carolina State University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and member of the North Carolina Association of CPAs.
